- As you shop, make sure that you always have your running gear with you. Ask the store owner if you can try the treadmill that you’re eyeing on. This way, you can get a feel of the treadmill. If the store owner does not let you, shop at another store!
- When you’re running on the treadmill at the top speed, make sure that the treadmill does no shake.
- The top speed of the treadmill should be one or two speed level faster that what you plan to run on it. It should also be elevated higher that how you plan to elevate it. Remember, you don want to “over exhaust” your treadmill just because the settings that you plan to run on it are its full power already.

A Woman’s Monthly Enemy
Posted on 09. Apr, 2009 by admin.
One of the most difficult things that a woman has to go through every single month is menstruation. Some women have it harder-they encounter cramps that could ruin an entire day of work, and there is also a possibility that there will be arguments with people along the way. A lot of boyfriends, husbands, and brothers still do not seem to understand it, so this is another thing that a woman needs to explain.
Women have to go through Premenstrual Syndrome or PMS. The obvious manifestations are mood swings, depression, and irritability. This could be very difficult for men because it is hard to understand. This comes once a month, and all men really need to do is to understand what the woman is going through-her menstrual cycle is working, and she will be in a state of pain. This is also the time of the month when the insecurities come and haunt her, so comforting and reassuring words will definitely help in fixing this. Menstrual cramps could be relieved by drinking pain relievers such as Paracetmol or Mefenamic Acid. Other types of relief that could definitely help are heating pads, the right amount of exercise, proper diet, and proper sleep.
These discomforts will be gone in no time, but women (as well as men who have women close to them) should not expect this to stop. Understanding, patience, and the right amount of rest and medicine will help them cope, and both sides would have to cooperate to make things less stressful.

Back Pain
Posted on 03. Mar, 2009 by admin.
Most people, in fact four out of five, have experienced lower back pain at least once in their lives. The back is a masterpiece of muscle, tissue, and bones, and even one unexpected twist or turn can damage one of the hundreds of strands of life managing muscles and it never quiet seems to be the same. Muscle strain, where a muscle is unexpectedly twisted and small tears appear along the muscle, is the most common back injury, however ligament strain is also very common. There are several reasons for back pain, most of them due to injury, but if you have chronic pain, or pain without a known injury, it may be worth looking into.
Such a cause of back pain is herniated disks. The disks of your spine are lined up, so that you can sit and stand without pain, but if one of the vertebras slips forwards and compress the spinal nerves. This can happen with either repetitive motion, such as truck drivers or machine operators, or by improper lifting. It is a radial type pain in which the pain is felt at the site of the injury and also along the nerves to other extremities, making it difficult to pinpoint the pain at first.
Another type of illness is spinal stenosis, which normal occurs only in people aged fifty and over and is a narrowing of the spinal canal either through an arthritic condition, swollen or enlarged ligaments, or bony spurs. It tends to get worse with prolonged periods of walking or weight baring activities and sometimes requires surgery to repair the damage. Osteoarthritis is another arthritic condition that needs medical treatment. Osteoporosis, or a degeneration of bones, is something very serious that can lead to fractures and other damaging conditions if left untreated.
A condition that is just becoming recognized is fibromyalgia, a rheumatic condition causing wide spread tissue pain, sleep disturbances, and fatigue. It takes several months to get a proper diagnosis for this condition but it needs to be treated with medications and therapy or it can become debilitating.
Prevention is worth the time that it takes since an injury to your back is life changing. Stretching before activities, wearing supportive braces for heavy lifting, and just practicing proper lifting techniques are good ways to prevent an injury and are quick and effortless ways to maintain your back. If you have sustained an injury or other ailment, than seeking the assistance of your doctor is highly recommended. You may just need to spend a few days off your feet in bed, with a mix of hot and cold compresses to relieve the swelling as well as taking over the counter anti-inflammatories.
If that does not seem to help, or the pain is recurring, it may be time to consider more drastic methods such as traction, a placement of the body into a held stretched position to relieve tension and muscle spasms, or as a last resort, surgery to repair the effected areas. Surgery is very expensive and will keep you off your feet for several weeks, but in some cases, is the only means for repair. Speak with your doctor about all the options available before making any decision since the last thing that you want to do is make it worse.

Liver Control and Saying No to Alcohol
Posted on 28. Feb, 2009 by admin.
Bars have been around us for centuries, and they still continue to grow today. People have invented all possible kinds of alcoholic beverages, and although these things are seemingly fun to try, we are all aware of the damage that it will bring to us if our intake exceeds what our bodies could handle. Social drinking is okay, but sometimes people do not realize how frequent these things occur, and thus their alcohol intake gets closer to health dangers. Beer advertisements always remind the consumer to “drink moderately” but most of the time, this is not followed. If you are starting to notice that your alcohol intake is getting more frequent than allowed, then you should start considering taking these pieces of advice to avoid future cases of alcoholism.
The very first thing to avoid is the source of alcohol. Frequent visits to bars will only make your craving stronger. There are still a lot of activities that could replace bar drinking trips. Avoiding pressure from friends is also the thing that you must learn how to manage. When people start offering drinks, you should try to say no immediately. Not the coolest thing to do when you’re in parties, but more embarrassment will come if you decide to take whatever alcoholic beverage is given to you. Your social life does not need to suffer; you will just have to choose a different drink when attending parties that offer overflowing alcohol. Lastly, you need to discipline yourself and begin by making sure that your health is your top priority.
Destroying your liver will only make things harder in the long run, and you’re going to be the one to suffer. Moderate drinking or not drinking at all will surely help a person avoid a lot of health threats. You’ve got to stay away from more danger.
